How Done is Your Steak?
Have you ever grilled a steak and wondered just how done it is? You don’t have a thermometer close by and you can’t cut into it or else the juices will run out! There is an easy trick. Simply take the piece of meat and press it with your finger and feel the level of firmness. Now take your hand and position them as shown below. Press with your finger into the fleshy part of your hand above your knuckle and feel the firmness.
If your thumb is all the way to the left it is well-done, just before the next knuckle is medium, and after the knuckle is rare.
